The Stranger
When I read on the blog of 3x3 Magazine that The Folio Society and the House of Illustration in London had launched a competition to illustrate Camus’ novel The Stranger, I simply knew that I had to take the unique opportunity to spend some time with this ingenious text and Camus himself. I made the sketches following the film by Visconti’s (Lo straniero) of 1967, whereas I conceived the final image from Camus’ handwriting and so I included his ‘heart beat’ in the illustrations. The idea took me to London as one of the five finalists, and the illustrations are still available for publishing.
